Laurent J. Winkelmann

After graduating from the law faculty of the University of Geneva and being admitted to the Geneva Bar, Laurent J. Winkelmann spent a few years in the United States (New York City and Richmond, Virginia), where he obtained an LL.M. degree in Corporate Law from New York University and worked as a foreign associate at a reputable international law firm (Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP). Upon his return to Geneva, he worked at the law firm Secretan Tayonov before joining NOMEA, in 2003, of which he became a partner a few years later. Highly experienced in all areas of real estate law, Laurent J. Winkelmann holds an SBA (Swiss Bar Association) Specialist Certificate in Tenancy Law and Condominium Ownership Law and serves as a judge assessor at the Geneva Lease and Tenancy Court.

His practice covers all aspects of real estate law, including real estate acquisitions and transactions, whether by direct acquisition or through holding or investment structures, (condominium) ownership, zoning, agricultural land law, construction law and tenancy law. He also practices in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, contract law, and domestic and cross-border commercial transactions, including their financing, security interests and related collateral arrangements. He is active in banking and financial markets law, where he acts for private clients, as well as within official assignments from the Swiss Federal Regulatory and Supervising Authority (FINMA). He also practices criminal law and international assistance in criminal matters relating to economic and financial issues.
